The facility offers the most comprehensive array of psychiatric treatment and substance abuse services in the state, including specialized programs and services along  the full continuum of care, including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programming for all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

This role, as the designated nurse executive, has the authority to develop and implement patient care programs, policies and procedures that dictate how patients' clinical and nursing care needs are assessed and met. Responsible for implementing and monitoring an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care delivered to patients. Responsible for providing leadership for improving patient care by ensuring that standards for patient care are established and maintained so that consistent care is provided to all patients. The position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating all functions related to psychiatric inpatient and PHP services of specialty units, including staff performance, systems improvement and teaching. It is responsible for new program design, implementation, and evaluation. May provide services for various patient populations including children, adolescent, adult and geriatric. As a member of Administrative Council, this role participates with other members in strategic planning and executive decision making. Participates in the setting and implementation of the organizations goals, priorities/strategies and works with other disciplines and groups to provide high quality of care.


ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* WORK WITH MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAMS TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT PATIENT CARE PROGRAMS AND POLICIES. PARTICIPATES IN EVALUATION OF NEW AND EXISTING PROGRAMS AND DEPARTMENTS RELATED TO QUALITY OF SERVICE, PATIENT SATISFACTION, REVENUE GENERATION AND EXPENSE MANAGEMENT.

* MONITOR’S DEPARTMENTS’ PRODUCTIVITY, ANALYZING AND TRENDING IT WITH SPECIFIED OUTCOMES SUCH AS TURNOVER, EMPLOYEE INJURIES, PATIENT FALLS, SECLUSION/RESTRAINT USE, ETC.

* ANALYZES AND REPORTS THE QUALITY OF SERVICE DELIVERY AND DEPARTMENTS CLINICAL AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE.

* ANALYZES, COORDINATES AND ADJUSTS STAFFING TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE UTILIZATION OF LABOR IN THE DEPARTMENT WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE QUALITY OF SERVICES PROVIDED.

* ASSUMES PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MAINTAINING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, LICENSURE CERTIFICATION, PRACTICE AND EDUCATION.

* UTILIZES MANAGEMENT, FINANCIAL, REGULATORY CLINICAL AND SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE TO ASSESS MARKET NEEDS, FUNCTIONING OF UNITS, PROGRAMS, MANAGERS, AND STAFF; GATHERS DATA FROM VARIETY OF SOURCES IN SYSTEMATIC MANNER, TRACKING, TRENDING AND ANALYZING AND SYNTHESIZING PERFORMANCE INDICATORS.

* DEMONSTRATES LEADERSHIP IN PLANNING PROGRAMS, ACTIONS, INTERVENTIONS, POLICIES, PLANS OR CORRECTION AND MANAGEMENT AND STAFF. ONGOING RESPONSE TO COMMUNITY/MARKET NEED, REGULATORY CHANGES, PATIENT CARE NEEDS AND QUALITY CARE DEMANDS. PARTICIPATES IN ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL OPERATIONAL DECISION MAKING AND STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR THE KYONE HEALTH ORGANIZATION.

* COORDINATES THE OPERATIONS OF NURSING AND OTHER INPATIENT PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES.

* DEVELOPS AND IMPLEMENTS PATIENT CARE PROGRAMS, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES THAT DICTATE AND MONITOR HOW PATIENT CARE NEEDS ARE ASSESSED AND MET BASED ON THE PATIENT POPULATIONS SERVED BY THE DEPARTMENT AND THEIR AGE-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.

* IMPLEMENTS APPROPRIATE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATORY GUIDELINES AND ACCREDITING STANDARDS.

* DEVELOPS AND IMPLEMENTS TRAINING AND COACHING PROGRAMS FOR DEPARTMENT MANAGERS AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR STAFF.

* IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CEO, SETS EXPECTATIONS FOR STANDARDS OF NURSING PRACTICE, DEVELOPING AND IMPLEMENTING ONGOING PROGRAMS TO MEASURE, ASSESS, AND IMPROVE THE DELIVERY OF QUALITY PATIENT CARE.

* SERVES AS ADVISOR AND RESOURCE TO THE CEO AND PARTICIPATES WITH TOP MANAGEMENT, MEDICAL STAFF AND CLINICAL LEADERS WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION TO ASSIST IN FORMULATING AND ADMINISTERING ORGANIZATIONAL POLICY.

* ASSISTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION’S PLANS FOR PROVIDING CLINICAL/NURSING CARE.

* LEADS MONTHLY MEETING OF CLINICAL ADMIN TEAM AND MAINTAINS ACCURATE MINUTES.

* SELF-STARTER IN IMPLEMENTING PLANS OR PROGRAMS TO ENHANCE PATIENT SATISFACTIONS AND TEAM MEMBER MORAL.

* PROVIDES LEADERSHIP AND VISION TO STAFF IN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY. TEAM BUILDING, RELATIONSHIP BUILDING, COMMUNICATION AND MOTIVATION OF STAFF.

* ENSURES COMPLIANCE WITH ALL REGULATORY AGENCIES AND ACCREDITING BODIES BY CONTINUALLY MONITORING THE OPERATIONS OF THE PATIENT SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AGAINST ESTABLISHED STANDARDS AND BY INITIATING CHANGES WHERE REQUIRED. ENSURES COMPLIANCE WITH ALL SAFETY, INCIDENT REPORTING AND INFECTION CONTROL POLICIES.

* TEAM BUILDING, COMMUNICATION AND MOTIVATION OF DIRECTOR’S AND LEADERS THROUGH MEETINGS, ROUNDING’S AND WORKING IN DEPARTMENTS. MANAGES UNNECESSARY TURNOVER WITHIN ESTABLISHED STANDARDS.

* DEMONSTRATES EXCELLENCE THROUGH TEAMWORK BY ENHANCING COMMUNICATIONS WITH TEAM MEMBERS, INSPIRING THEM TO LIVE THE VALUES, SHARE THE VISION AND GOALS OF KYONE HEALTH.

* MANAGES TEAM MEMBER AND PATIENT SATISFACTION THROUGH MODELING DESIRED BEHAVIORS AND EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATING USING FACTS AND REASON TO PERSUADE AND INFLUENCE SUBORDINATES, PEERS, AND OTHERS.

* PROMOTES FAVORABLE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE LEADERSHIP COUNCIL AND WITH ALL TEAM MEMBERS BY BEING VISIBLE AND ACCESSIBLE.

* DEVELOPS, MENTORS, AND ASSISTS LEADERS IN PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY PATIENT CARE AND SERVICES. HOLDS MANAGERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR PERFORMANCE. PROVIDES FEEDBACK AND PROMOTES PROFESSIONAL GROWTH.

* DEVELOPS RELATIONSHIPS WITH SCHOOLS OF NURSING AND COMMUNITY.

* EFFECTIVELY TURNS NEGATIVE SITUATIONS INTO SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH CONCERN, POISE, UNDERSTANDING AND TACT.

* ESTABLISHED EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE MEDICAL STAFF OF THE HOSPITAL.

* WORKS WITH THE MEDICAL STAFF TO PLAN AND IMPLEMENT SERVICES WHICH MEET THE COMMUNITY’S HEALTHCARE NEEDS.

* ACTIVELY PARTICIPATES IN MEDICAL STAFF COMMITTEES BY CONTRIBUTING EXPERTISE AND PROVIDING ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE.

* WORKS WITH MEDICAL STAFF TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT PATIENT CARE PROGRAMS AND POLICIES.

* OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

Key Services:

  • Services for patients with emotional/behavioral, psychiatric disorders and/or substance use disorders
  • Specialized units for children/adolescents with intellectual and development disabilities
  • Treatment for co-occurring disorders with integrated treatment
  • Treatment alternatives such as Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs for children, adolescents and adults

Education, Experience and Licensure

 

Education:  MSN preferred.  BSN required.

 

Experience:  At least five years of experience in directing programs and managers in a mental health field, required. 

 

Licensure:  Current Registered Nurse licensure in KY required.  


Healthcare Provider/Basic Life Support through AHA required.  Able to complete Safe Crisis Management and perform Safe Crisis Management techniques, required.
