This position is responsible for supporting the national financial planning function.  This includes, but is not limited to, supporting the preparation and analysis of the long-range financial plan updates, annual budgets, interim forecasts, major capital business plans, and current operational performance compared against those plans. This position also contributes to the continuous improvement of the systems utilized for these purposes to ensure meaningful analytics that capture and assess key risk factors and leads the development of standardized reporting and analytical tools so as to ensure comparable projections across CHI markets and entities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with MBO (or CHI national entity) finance/FP&A leadership and staff to oversee and facilitate the development of driver-based long-range financial plan updates, annual budgets, and related interim forecasts.
  • Work with MBOs and/or national entities to gain clear understanding of issues driving projected financial results, including balance sheet and cash flow impacts. Assess reasonable financial performance expectations for both the near and long term.
  • Provide support to MBOs in creating reviewable (major) capital business plans and facilitate the related national capital review and approval process.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses related to all aspects of actual performance, financial projections and capital business plans and communicate results and recommendations effectively.
  • Establish effective and collaborative relationships with MBO and national office finance staff.
  • Act as “team lead”/ subject matter expert for defined responsibility areas such as long-range plan software system management, Medicare reimbursement, market volume demand modeling, and capital business plan template maintenance.
  • As needed, develop robust and coherent financial models that effectively assess submitted plans and forecasts vs. expected results.
  • Interact effectively with other FP&A team members to evaluate and facilitate consistency in important analytical issues across CHI markets and operations Support the effort of continuously improving existing planning systems and contribute to the conceptual development of new tools and approaches that enhance the overall financial planning process.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance-related field required. MBA / CPA / CMA desirable.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in finance and/or financial planning required.  Healthcare experience preferred.  
  • Kaufman Hall/Axiom software, Hyperion Smart View, and Essbase; strong financial modeling in Excel
