Job Summary / Purpose

Work as part of the clinic provider team and assists the providers in the provision of primary health care.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

1.      Prepares patients for examination including the identification of the chief complaint, the taking of vital signs, height, weight, etc., and ensures smooth patient flow throughout clinic.

2.      Keeps ill patients comfortable until seen by a Provider.

3.      Assists providers in healthcare activities, performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures

4.      Administration of medications, starting & monitoring IV fluids & IV medications

5.      Assists with stocking the examining room and special treatment rooms with needed supplies.

6.      Conducts patient screening for hearing, sight, blood pressure and other simple routine procedures.

7.      Collects specimens and delivers them to the laboratory.

8.      Performs routine laboratory procedures.

9.      Perform other necessary duties as required by the Internal Medicine Clinic Physician and Physician Clinic Director to achieve the goal of providing primary health care services.

10.  Performs administrative duties as required to ensure efficient patient flow and to meet the goals of the clinic.

11.  Participated in the quality assurance activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards.

12.  Ensures an appropriate environment of the administration of healthcare by keeping exam rooms, nurses’ station, all equipment and other work areas in a clean, safe and orderly fashion.

13.  Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Medical Degree from an accredited medical school is required .Must have successfully completed a residency program. Two-plus years of experience in field of practice is preferred.

Required Licensure and Certifications

Must be board certified and possess a current non-restricted license in Oregon.

Must possess current, valid federal and state narcotics certificates.

Current BLS certification required.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment.
