Preferred Education:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalency in theology, behavioral science, ministry or related field 
  • Master's Degree or equivalency in theology, behavioral science, ministry or related field 
  • Completion of one or more units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Pastoral ministry in an institutional setting.
  • At least 1-3 years of Pastoral Ministry or related experience under institutional supervision.
  • Knowledge of the Common Standards for Professional Chaplaincy and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, i.e. The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) regulations.
  • Ability to relate well with employees of all levels of the organization.
  • Practices excellent active listening skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Accepting and understanding of diverse religious beliefs and practices.
  • Ability to deal with crisis situations.
