Minimum Requirements:
Education and Licensure:
  • Associate’s Degree preferred

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R ); must maintain current

  • Certified by the State of Texas – MRT

  • (CPR)/BLS
  •  BSLMC also requires employee to receive ARRT (VI) or AART (CV) within 2 year of employment

Minimum Experience:
  • One (1) experience as a Radiographer

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good alpha/numeric dexterity and handwriting skills

  • Interpersonal skills for communication with patients, visitors, physicians and other hospital personnel.

  • Must have good written and oral communication skills

Position Responsibilities:

1. Performs angiography exams on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocols


  2. Prepares equipment ensuring that equipment is operational, safe and functioning according to diagnostic standards


  3. Problem-solves equipment failure and imaging quality and contacts service representative or CES regarding equipment problems


  4. Ensures that daily equipment and room maintenance are performed during/ after each procedure, and that special precautions and measures are performed to ensure infection control standards


  5. Completes all quality checks and Ensures that equipment logs are maintained


  6. Completes all clinical supply inventory, ensuring that each diagnostic room is complete with the necessary supplies required to perform the procedure


  7. Demonstrates competency in PACS process and Performs daily QA process


  8. Actively Participates with patient testing, performing routine, non-routine, urgent, and emergent patient requests


  9. Communicates with Patient Transportation, Nursing Units, Physician Offices, and other diagnostic areas to ensure that the patients receive their diagnostic procedures in a smooth, efficient and safe manner


  10. Ensures that patient orientation, patient preparation and patient teaching is provided prior, during and following the test completion


  11.  Reviews the physician order to verify the type of diagnostic test requested and that the indication for the procedure is consistent


  12.  Provides specific diagnostic test information to the patient ensuring that the patient is aware of the diagnostic test involvement


  13. Obtains patient history according to specific departmental procedural protocol


  14. Positions the patient for the examination according to specific departmental protocol


  15. Selects the specific equipment pre-sets and modifies the settings to ensure that optimal image is obtained


  16. Assumes responsibility for the safety, emotional and physical comfort of patients while they are in the technologists care


  17. Adheres to hospital guidelines on maintaining sterile fields


  18. Responsible for monitoring and recording radiation dose levels

  19. Performs required image post processing

  20. When needed, scrubs in to assist Radiologists in performance of sterile procedures during the interventional test/treatment.  Anticipates Radiologist's needs during the procedure by preparing catheters, coils, guides, etc. in anticipation of their use.
