Job Summary

 

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) partners with quality team members in the development and delivery of educational programs supporting evidence-based practice and organizational initiatives to promote clinical excellence. Staff served by the clinical education department are primarily Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Medical Assistants/Nursing Assistants in primary care and specialty services. The CNE is responsible to maintain current professional knowledge, competencies and skill sets.

 

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

 

  • Creates, plans, implements and coordinates orientation program for new  clinical staff.
  • Ensures initial and annual competency reviews for clinical staff.
  • Participates in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of educational events (i.e. skills day, in-service).
  • Provides direct support for clinical staff and ongoing assessment of needs/gaps.
  • Monitors clinical staff to assure they function within and up to the limits of scope of practice as allowed by licensure/certification.
  • Provides timely feedback to leaders regarding staff performance and concerns.
  • Maintains regular involvement and visibility among clinical staff through rounding.
  • Promotes standardization in flow of patients and information across the medical group.
  • Acts as an information resource for clinical staff regarding documentation requirements and process flow in EHR—super-user.
  • Promotes evidence-based practice to support safe, quality and cost-effective delivery of care.
  • Assists with the development and revision of clinical policies, procedures, protocols using evidence-based information.
  • Attends and actively participates in department and/or committee meetings. May also facilitate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by director or designee.
  • Participate in collaboration with practice managers for completion of clinical staff annual reviews.

Additional requirements for this role include:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in TN and GA
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • BLS certification required; BLS instructor preferred; ACLS certification preferred
  • Instructor/education related experience and/or leadership preferred. Microsoft Visio. Video teleconferencing. preferred.
