Job Summary
 

The Division 340B Audit Specialist performs ongoing internal regulatory compliance audits of all aspects of the 340B Programs within a division including, but not limited to, split-billing, contract and specialty pharmacy to assure patient, provider, medications, and location eligibility. The Specialist works in collaboration with system, division and covered-entity personnel to assure a compliant program throughout CHI. The scope of this position may be limited to one division or may extend across multiple divisions depending on number of covered entities and complexities.

 
Job Description
 

As a key member of the Division 340B Operations team, the Division 340B Audit Specialist participates in multiple simultaneous 340B Program work groups and implementation teams as needed. The Division 340B Audit Specialist functions to ensure compliance and consistency in the 340B Program across CHI and the division(s). This position must foster effective working relationships of 340B staff with business functions outside pharmacy including supply chain, legal, and corporate responsibility across their division as well as with vendors, wholesalers, and manufacturers.

In addition, this position actively contributes to CHI efforts to develop audit and reporting methods to assess and monitor the CHI 340B Program at the covered-entity, division and CHI levels to continually improve the 340B Program.

The Division Audit Specialist will be guided by the System 340B Operations Support Team with a direct reporting relationship to the Division 340B Manager and close working relationships with the Division 340B Operations Teams and other Division Audit Specialists.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts routine internal integrity audits to ensure adherence to 340B regulatory requirements and guidelines, including but not limited to, validating patient, provider, medication, and location eligibility.  Audits will span across split-billing (outpatient), contract and specialty pharmacy environments within the division.
  • Maintains accurate detailed audit records and reports for each covered entity
  • Monitors applied changes to verify improvement and success
  • Reports risks, adverse trends, and findings to Division 340B Manager, Division 340B Coordinator, and Corporate Responsibility to develop action plans to ensure timely resolution of issues 
  • Participates in work groups and offers contributions and recommendations to improve processes, procedures, quality, consistency, and compliance of the CHI’s 340B Program at the system, division, and covered-entity levels, as needed.
  • Communicates relevant information including audit processes, findings, risks, and trends
  • Assists with defining and testing internal controls, audit procedures, automation, and improvement recommendations, as needed
  • Actively develops relationships with 340B stakeholders to ensure cooperation and teamwork to optimize compliance. Proactively promotes knowledge-sharing and recommendations to resolve issues, optimize improvements, and ensure consistency of compliance across covered entities, division and CHI.
  • Supports external audits (including Third Party, HRSA and/or manufacturer), as needed.
  • Collaborates with the 340B Audit Specialists to identify regulatory compliance risks, trends and opportunities for compliance improvement across CHI.
  • Provides information and reports to support division-wide ongoing program sustainability and growth.
  • Maintains awareness of 340B regulatory guidance, policy/rule issues and changes, and potential program changes to assure a compliant program across CHI and division.
 

Job Requirements / Qualifications

 

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

 
  • Bachelor’s degree (required); healthcare-related field, business management (finance, accounting), or information technology preferred; suitable work experience may substitute Certified pharmacy technician experience strongly preferred
  • Certifications preferred (e.g. 340B Apexus Certification)
  • Eligible for any appropriate state registrations, certifications, or licenses needed for job
 

Experience (required and preferred):

  • 2 years healthcare experience required
  • Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge with auditing data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions required
