Pay Scale: $36.34 - $54.53
 
$1/hour for 1 additional unit competency
$2/hour for 2 additional unit competencies
$3/hour for 3 additional unit competencies
$4/hour for 4 additional unit competencies
                
**$6/hour is the maximum additional pay for being a resource nurse. To achieve the maximum a nurse must be competent in Medical, Surgical and 5 additional units (ATC, Heart Center, ICU, PCU, ED & Pediatrics).
 
Shift: Part Time, Nights
 
Job Summary:
 
Under the direction of the Nursing Support Services Director, the Resource Pool RN performs duties by applying professional nursing theory and principles, and utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care given to patients. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health care team in assigned units for providing patient care. Demonstrates clinical, organizational and communication skills in dealing with patients, families and other health care workers. Resource Pool RNs will be oriented to multiple assigned units and will maintain competence on an annual basis. Competency in two units is required within 30 days of hire and three units is required by the end of the first year of employment as a Resource Pool RN.

Essential Duties:
  • Observes, collects, and records data related to patient’s biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, and self-care ability, as well as educational and discharge planning needs.
  • Analyzes assessment data to formulate a nursing diagnosis and to provide the basis for planning timely and effective nursing interviews.
  • Implements an age appropriate plan of care in conjunction with the physician, patient, patient’s family, and/or significant other, and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Documents and utilizes patient data to measure progress toward attainment of patient outcomes and patient goals, assuring documentation of all care is completed in a timely manner.
  • Identifies the learning needs of the patient and/or significant other and initiates measures to meet those needs within the patient’s assessed learning abilities. Incorporates patient’s individual social, emotional, and cultural needs into the planning and teaching process.
  • Involves patient and significant others in education and decision making process related to patient’s care.
  • Follows hospital policies/procedures to ensure patient safety when administering patient medication as well as related to fall prevention.      
  • Coordinates care given by other disciplines to ensure that the patient’s care needs are met and progress toward goals is attained.
  • Participates in performance management improvement activities that aligned with hospital improvement projects to improve patient care, business flow and process to assure excellent customer service.
License/Certifications:
  • Current RN license issued by the state of Oregon is required.
  • Current BLS required within 30 days of hire, ACLS within 3 months of hire.
  • Additional units in which the applicant holds competency each require the following additional certifications:
    • Heart Center: Arrhythmia certification
    • ED: Arrhythmia certification, PALS or ENPC, TNCC or TEAM
    • Pediatrics: PALS
  • Possessing any of the following would be a preference for this position:
    • PCU: PCCN
    • ICU: TNCC, PALS, CCRN
Experience:
  • Applicants must hold competency in the Medical and Surgical units as well as one additional unit (ATC, Heart Center, ICU, PCU, ED or Pediatrics).
  • Possessing Surgical, Orthopedic experience would be a preference for this position.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
Education:
  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing program.
