Job Summary
The Monitor Technician  is responsible for the continuous observation and documentation of cardiac rhythms and identification of any changes.  As Training Specialist, conducts training sessions for all new hires and nursing personnel.

Essential Duties
  • Set up telemetry equipment for new admissions according to established procedures.
  • Use knowledge of basic cardiac arrhythmia to interpret rhythm strips according to hospital policy.
  • Maintain documentation on telemetry patients.
  • Maintain correct flow of communication for quality patient care (i.e., troubleshooting, patient status, and quality issues)

Minimum Qualifications



  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Basic EKG class preferred.


  • Knowledge of or experience in healthcare.
  • Typing skills preferred, but not required.
  • Telemetry experience preferred.

Licensure or Certifications

  • Successful completion of basic EKG class during probationary period then annually thereafter.


  • Use of computer, copier, fax, phone, printers, beepers, and Nurse Call System, Bed-tracking System, and telemetry equipment. 
  • Good written/verbal communication skills including pleasant phone manners and effective organizational skills.
