FUNCTIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  1. Participates in defining strategic priorities and in achieving goals and thus contributes to planning for use of physical, human and capital budget fiscal resources. Provides ideas, comments and recommendations through established forums, suggestion box, team meetings, steering groups, leadership communications and in any opportunity for open dialogue.

     

  2. Conducts interviews with prospective volunteers; makes recommendation to Operational Director for final selection of volunteers and assigns them to appropriate service area.  Schedules orientation and in-service training for adult volunteers.

     

  3. Organizes, plans, and directs the teen volunteer program.  Plans, implements and oversees the activities of all teen volunteers.  Coordinates teen activity assignments with Nursing Service and individual nursing units.  Coordinates and participates in training teens.  Serves as an advisor for in-house and out-of-house teen activities both social and educational.  Maintains communication with other teen coordinators concerning programs, in-services, etc. 

     

  4. Conducts ongoing volunteer training, record keeping, scheduling and related duties. Assures Volunteers compliance with system and facility policies and practices.

     

  5. Assists the Operations Director in planning, editing and producing the newsletter, calendars and other printed materials.  Develops various support materials for regularly scheduled Volunteer activities, special events and other programs.

     

  6. Coordinates family support groups and provides ongoing support to family members.

     

     

    REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

     

1.             Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

 

2.             Demonstrates work practices consistent with CHI Health and department-specific safety, security and infection control policies.

 

3.             Must have ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

4-5 years Administrative experience in a volunteer program, preferably in a health care setting preferred.  Previous volunteer/community service preferred.

 

Education:

An undergraduate degree is preferred. 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Must possess strong knowledge of Volunteer Services, ability to apply principles of personnel administration to selection and placement of volunteers; willingness to stay in the background and promote ideas and programs; good verbal and writing skills; ability to evaluate and respond to personal needs of volunteers; ability to work with many interruptions, yet maintain a tactful, patient and calm demeanor; strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong project management skills; good communication skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills, must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; and the ability to motivate others; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
