Job Summary: The Chief Medical Officer will provide clinical leadership to support and advance population health strategies and clinical integration throughout Mercy Health Network. The Chief Medical Officer will develop, enhance, and manage clinical services and programs to further population health management and to work in concert with commercial health plans. The CMO will also serve as a medical liaison and implementer of physician-to-physician evidence-based guidelines to ensure appropriate resources are utilized for enhancing quality outcomes, cost containment and utilization management.

Essential Position Expectations:

 
  1. Leads Mercy ACO Clinical Integration activities.

  2. Assists the ACO President with development of the agenda and organization of the monthly Clinical Integration Workgroup meeting.

  3. Lead the Mercy ACO Patient Centered Medical initiatives

  4. Work collaboratively with the Mercy ACO Director of Quality and Care Management to give medical direction to all Mercy ACO quality and care management initiatives.

  5. Serve as a liaison to Mercy ACO Providers

  6. Assist in data analysis

  7. Works collaboratively with providers and staff across the continuum of care to promote quality and coordination of care.

  8. Development and supervision of Mercy ACO quality initiatives, grants, and research projects.

  9. Proactively acts as patient advocate, responding with empathy and respect to resolve patient concerns and recognizes opportunities for improvement through patient concerns.

  10. Abides by and promotes the mission and core values of the Spirit of Mercy.

  11. Other duties as assigned by the Mercy ACO President and Board

Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) is required.

 
Experience:  Experience as a physician required.

Experience in Clinical QI and 2 years previous management experience is preferred.

 
 

Certifications & Licenses: Current licensure as a physician in the State of Iowa required.
